John Balaam came to Hawaii in 1969. Prior to him moving to the Big Island, he was a part owner of some restaurants and bars in Waikiki. In 1977, he moved to the Big Island to open two new restaurants. The first restaurant was built in Kona in 1977 and then the second restaurant in Waimea in 1979. He had enjoyed a successful restaurant career until he sold both restaurants in 1989.
John obtained his real estate license in 1989 and has been a full time Realtor ever since. Over the years he has gained thorough knowledge of the business here on the Big Island. John is known to be a “workaholic” but truly one who enjoys his job and is very grateful for all his clients who have helped to make him a successful real estate broker. John is very familiar with the many different lifestyles of Hawaii and can help you find your special place in paradise...
At this point in Johns life, he is completely focused on two things; work and family. His oldest daughter, Kerry, attended the Hawaii Preparatory Academy and then went on to graduate from Lewis and Clark College in Portland. He also has two young sons, Toby and Noah, ages 15 and 13, who are currently attending Hawaii Preparatory Academy. His hobbies are enjoying his children’s activities. He loves to play and watch many different sports with his boys. His wife Charito works alongside him as his executive assistant. The two of them together make a very effective team that provides a high level of service for their clients.
Johns clients always comment on his natural laid back nature and his non-pushy approach to selling real estate. He runs a very efficient and effective real estate business. The motto that he lives by is “always strive to do the right thing in every given situation”.
